The Duduk – an ancient Armenian reed wind instrument produced from an apricot tree. The sound is formed from vibration of two reed plates. On the front side of the instrument there are 7-8 holes and another one or two – on a reverse side. In the course of evolution of the instrument masters tried dozens of wood. However, the true sound of the instrument gave only apricots growing in Armenia. Not without reason in the Latin name "Prunus armeniaca" it is considered truly Armenian fruit. Ridley Scott's movie "Gladiator" in fact revealed to the world a duduk. After the ceremony of awarding the "Oscar" film, "New York Times" remarked: " How strange that in this godless cruel world still there are intimate sounds".
